Property for Sale in Calpe

The most familiar landmark of the costa blanca is the Penon de Ifach, a granite massive reaching over 600 meters above sea level, which dominates the fishing port and pleasure boat harbour of Calpe. At the other end of a long stretch of Golden sand is the modern centre of Calpe's business and commercial activity and on the hill above are the stepped streets of the old town. Its a big bustling and cosmopolitan town, though the surrounding urbanisations are peaceful and pretty.

Calpe has many english businesses, from bookshops to butchers, alongside the typical spanish ones. there are primary and secondary schools, a large modern health centre and excellent leisure facilities. There is a football ground and a smart tennis club near the town centre, volleyball nets on the beaches, scuba diving from the little harbour of les basetas and hang gliders regularly to be seen floating down from the Morro de Toix mountain. There are windsurfers in the bay and climbers scaling the Penon and nearby Sierra Olta.

The Fish restaurants in the port at Calpe are justifiably renowned up and down the coast, where the fishing fleet bring the fresh catch in daily and you can watch the fish sold at auction on the quay. Apart from traditional spanish restaurants you will find very many quality establishments serving the cusine of different countries and ranging in price to suit your requirements.

There is a tiny chocolate factory on one of Calpe's sidestreets, the chocolates are sold in a small shop on the busy main shopping street, which rolls down from the old town on the hill to the fountain by Arenal Beach and the long promenade. This is a town which has something for everybody, lively bars and clubs for the nightbirds, classy restaurants for the gourmets, very many sports available and stunning countryside for nature lovers, but if you would like to relax, find yourself a quiet corner of this marvellous town and peace is yours.
